The Study in Portugal Network (SiPN), program operated by the Luso-American Foundation for Development (FLAD) is among the finalist for “Best Education Abroad Provider” award at the Global Youth Travel Awards (GYTA) 2023, an event hosted by the World Youth and Student Travel Confederation, a nonprofit organization that promotes the travel and tourism industry focused on young people and students from all over the world.
SiPN is developed in partnership with four of Portugal’s most prestigious universities: the University of Lisbon, the Catholic University of Portugal, ISCTE – University Institute of Lisbon and the NOVA University of Lisbon. SiPN’s nomination as one of three finalists, along with EDU Africa and the Centre for Global Citizenship Studies – both unique and diverse projects in their fields – recognizes the work developed in the past years. Since 2015, SiPN has hosted more than 1500 students in the various programs offered, coming from around 100 US institutions. These numbers demonstrate that the SiPN program is a reference in promoting global education and mobility of university students that recognize Portugal as an attractive country to pursue their studies and research.
According to Professor Michael Baum, member of the Executive Counsil and head of the Education department, this nomination “further validates the strategy that has been developed and whose main axes are the search for social, cultural and academic integration os students in mobility in the Portuguese context, and the excellent support provided by the entire SiPN team to both students and partners in the USA.”
